TaMaMa Dance Company’s first Large Work titled Horizon, premiered as part of the City of Marquette’s annual Art Week in June 2017.
Horizon is a 55 minute performance comprised of five sections and is a collaboration between TaMaMa Dance Company and Northern Michigan University’s lighting designer and professor, Vic Holliday.
Choreographed by TaMaMa Dance Company members Maria Formolo, Maggie Barch and Marissa Marquardson, the concept for Horizon came out of the desire to work closely with the lighting designer throughout the entire creative process; creating a showcase that incorporated theatre lighting and design ideas into the movement from its conception.
Horizon is a powerful evocation of the marvels of nature and the indomitable spirit of humanity with with inspiring visuals of light and design. Using music, poetry, movement, and light the audience members will be transported into a realm of delight and majesty.
TaMaMa Dance Company performed Horizon a second time in February 2018 as guest artists of the Northern Michigan University’s Department of Theatre and Dance for their annual spring dance concert.
